Just like the Boston Celtics on a fast break, Ella Alger moves with purpose, driven by a passion for storytelling and making every play count. Aside from being a lifelong basketball fan, Alger is an aspiring PR professional at James Madison University (JMU) dedicated to creating content that uplifts, informs, and inspires. As a senior at JMU, Alger is excited to launch her career upon graduating with a B.S. in Media Arts and Design and Communication Studies in May 2026.

Alger grew up in Wethersfield, Connecticut, and has always had a knack for creative expression. As a lifelong basketball fan, she started creating videos for her town’s youth basketball league when she was 14. She carried this hobby with her through high school, and created promotional content for her high school basketball team until her senior year of high school.

Although her career goals look different now, she brings the same creative passion with her to JMU and has since involved herself with several on-campus organizations that propel her professional career forward. Most notably, she is the Firm Director for Bluestone Communications, JMU's nationally-affiliated student-run PR firm. She also serves as the Vice President of JMU’s chapter of PRSSA and the Marketing Director of JMU’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honor Society. She is also a member of Student Ambassadors, JMU’s volunteer tour guide organization.

Beyond JMU, Alger spent the spring 2025 semester in London, England, studying British communication and media at University College London (UCL). She also obtained two full-time summer internships with Hollywood Agency and Boathouse Group, both located in the Boston region.

Alger’s journey through college has been defined by her commitment to meaningful communication. From leading PR campaigns to studying media relations across the Atlantic Ocean, she has consistently sought opportunities that challenge her perspective and expand her knowledge. With a heart for storytelling and a drive to inspire, she is committed to using her passion to make a lasting impact on and off the court.
